Frequently asked questions

Here are some common questions about our Trust.

We collect only what you choose to give us. This typically includes your name, email, postal address, phone number, and donation details (amount, frequency, payment method) when you donate or sign up. If you register as a volunteer or subscriber, we may also collect any additional details you provide (e.g. skills or interests). We do not collect sensitive information (like social security numbers or medical details) unless absolutely needed and clearly communicated. All collected data is stored securely, and we explain exactly why we need each type of information in our communications and policy

No. Oberoi Trust will never sell or trade your personal information to third parties. Your name and contact information stay with us. As noted in our policy, “we will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity” . We only share your data with very limited third-party providers who help us serve you (for example, credit card companies for donation processing, or email platforms to send our newsletters). These service providers are contractually obligated to use your data only for the specific service they provide. We do not share your data with unrelated organizations, and we certainly do not sell mailing lists or donor data .

Your information is used to support your involvement with our mission. We use your contact details to send donation receipts, newsletters, and updates about our feeding programs (only if you’ve opted in). Your donation/payment data is used exclusively to process and acknowledge your gift . We also use data to manage volunteer placements or event registrations. Essentially, we use your data to thank and inform you, and to improve our services. We do not sell or share your information for other organizations’ marketing.

Your security is a priority for us. We use modern security measures on our website and data systems. For instance, all website transactions (like donations) are encrypted and go through secure  gateways . Our databases are stored on secure servers, and our staff is trained in data protection. We limit access to personal data only to authorized personnel and use firewalls, strong passwords, and regular backups. As one data-security guideline advises, we take “appropriate technical and organizational precautions to secure your personal data and to prevent its loss, misuse, or alteration” . In short, we follow best practices (including encryption and staff training ) to keep your data safe.

You have control over your personal data. You can request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct any errors, or even delete your data from our records if you no longer want it kept (subject to any legal record-keeping requirements). You can also unsubscribe from any communications at any time. To do any of these, simply email us at oberoitrustofficial@gmail.com or use the links provided in our emails. We will honor your requests promptly. As stated in our Privacy Policy, you can “request access, correction, or deletion” of your data . If you have more complex privacy concerns (for example, GDPR or other data-protection questions), our Data Protection Officer will work with you to address them.
